Securing the future of population-based healthhousehold
surveys in Africa

CESMEL Health is convening a forward-looking, solutions-oriented webinar to spark a new conversation about the future of African population-based national health household surveys (NHHS).
As longstanding U.S. funding that supported flagship surveys like DHS, MIS, and MICS winds down, the continent stands at a crossroads: continue a legacy of external dependence or embrace the challenge of reimagining a new model rooted in regional ownership, innovation, and sustainability.
This dialogue will bring together global health leaders, researchers, statisticians, policymakers, and innovators to rethink African survey implementation—not simply as a technical exercise but as a strategic pathway to data sovereignty, national resilience, and evidence-led policymaking.
