Infectious Disease Epidemiologist & Global Health Expert
Erin Eckert is a distinguished infectious disease epidemiologist and recognized expert in the control and elimination of malaria and other infectious diseases, including pandemic preparedness and COVID-19 response. Her career has been dedicated to developing metrics to track access to care, with a particular emphasis on malaria diagnosis, treatment, and chemoprevention.
Dr. Eckert has extensive experience collaborating with governments, multilateral organizations, and non-profits, on policy formulation, program design and implementation, and surveillance and evaluation. She has designed evaluation platforms, surveillance systems, and research initiatives aimed at enhancing infectious disease programs. She has demonstrated expertise in managing large multidisciplinary teams, working with multicultural stakeholders to achieve success.
Her previous positions have included serving as a Senior Technical Advisor on the US President’s Malaria Initiative, leading the Infectious Disease Portfolio at RTI International, and teaching and advising students at Tulane University School of Public Health.
Dr. Eckert is an experienced educator in public health research and evaluation methods and has published extensively on public health topics. She holds a Master’s in Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology from Tulane University.
