Dr Njeru is a Global Health Security expert and medical epidemiologist with over 17 years of experience supporting governments and partners across Africa and Asia. Expertise includes Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR), One Health, Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR), International Health Regulations (IHR), and National Action Plans for Health Security (NAPHS).
He has a proven track record in leading multi-country programs, Joint External Evaluations, and strengthening surveillance systems. Extensive experience supporting responses to major outbreaks including Ebola, Marburg, Lassa Fever, Mpox, COVID-19, Polio, Measles, Cholera, and Anthrax across multiple countries.
Dr Njeru is skilled in program design, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, and stakeholder coordination, working with partners such as WHO, World Bank, USAID, FCDO, US CDC, and Ministries of Health. Successfully mobilized significant funding, including $20M for Sierra Leone (2024) and $25M for Somalia (2025).
He holds an MBA, MSc in Applied Epidemiology, and MBChB, with additional training in Implementation Science and Health Systems Strengthening.
