Molecular and Public Health Diagnostician
Peter Aka, PhD, MS, MPH is an epidemiologist/Scientist with more than 15 years of Molecular
Diagnostics and Public Health experience as well as a demonstrated history of designing,
leading, managing and implementing research studies in the lab and in the field.
Dr. Aka has great experience with field implementation of Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) in
countries in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. Experienced in the development of research/survey
tools including SOPs, research protocols, questionnaires, and scopes of work for data collectors,
training manuals and brochures for field workers, households etc.
Proficient in the use of several statistical software to analyze research data and write manuscripts for publication in peer review journals. Dr. Aka has over twenty publications in peer review journals. Expert in writing scientific and other reports. In the last ten years offering technical assistance to DHS projects in developing countries including training on the collection of households, individual and biomarker data (nutrition, anemia, HIV, malaria, diabetes, hepatitis etc.) Until recently, Dr. Aka was Senior Epidemiologist Lead with The DHS program at ICF International.
Dr. Aka’s previous work experience at NIH, USA as a Postdoctoral fellow and Senior Scientist at Medical Research Council in Gambia (Centre of research excellence) Proficient in English and French and willing to travel as often as is needed to ensure quality data.
