Soumeya Ouangraoua
Project Director, Jhpiego, Burkina Faso

Dr. Soumeya Ouangraoua is a laboratory scientist and public health project management expert with over 16 years of experience in coordinating surveillance and evaluation projects in low-resource settings. Currently, she serves as the Director of the “Enhancing Global Health Security” (EGHS) project in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, providing technical expertise to strengthen laboratory capacities and support emergency health responses, including COVID-19, through quality management system implementation and national team training.

She has played a key role in the development and implementation of pathogen surveillance strategies within a “One Health” framework, collaborating with national and international institutions. Dr. Ouangraoua is also an experienced leader in managing multidisciplinary projects and overseeing applied research in epidemiology, particularly in the fight against bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance.

With a PhD in applied biology and biological systems modeling, a master’s in applied biology, and a degree in pharmacy, she also has extensive expertise in laboratory quality management and biosafety. Her research work has contributed to studies on meningitis epidemics and pneumococcal infections, with publications in renowned international scientific journals.
